Information, Advice & Guidance
Following the very successful 'At The Crossroads' programmes and the 'Moving On Up' programme we can continue to offer support to women through our Next Step and Careers Advice Plus programmmes. If you would like an introductory session or would like to discvuss what support may be available to you or people you work with please contact hala@nnwn.org

The training is designed to provide you with the skills, knowledge and understanding that you need to offer mentoring to women or young people. It will also provide you with an OCN Level 2 Intermediate Award in Developing Information, Advice and Guidance Skills
As part of the process you will be asked to undertake
• mentoring sessions which you will then reflect upon in a future workshop,
• group work to investigate organisations to whom you could refer clients,
• a case study exercise that will be assessed by an OCN assessor.
The course tutors / assessors will be Andrea Perrett and Julia Lyford.
Programme Objectives
By the end of the course you will:
Define mentoring; understand what it involves, and how it relates to Information Advice and Guidance (IAG) and befriending.
Analyse your motivation for being a mentor and understand the benefits of mentoring to both mentor and mentee.
Identify your own strengths, skills and goals; create an action plan and know how to help others create goals and action plans.
Understand issues particularly facing women and young people and how NNWN can support them in a range of ways; Understand equal opportunities issues associated with mentoring.
Describe your role in providing IAG and mentoring and demonstrate the skills required to create a positive mentoring process and overall relationship, including issues about confidentiality and boundaries.
Describe the scope or provision of IAG within the women's network, identify potential agencies for referral in relation to individual clients, reasons for selection and good practice in referral.
